A VISIT TO THE TURTLE CENTER OF L'ALBERA

Did you know that the tortoise of the Albera is a native species in serious danger of extinction? Do you want to know how can we recover the population of these unique animals? We invite you to visit the centre of reproduction of turtles in the Albera’s mountain range, situated in the fields of the Santuari del Camp, in Garriguella. In these facilities you can see the Mediterranean tortoises that later will be released into the natural landscape of the Albera mountain range in order to reinforce existing natural population of turtles. Also you will learn about other species of turtles from Catalonia, such as the pond turtle, and the turtle of stream, and you will learn more on the issue of the reduction of these reptiles in the wild. The visit will allow you to understand and love the turtles and the Mediterranean forest.
